The original team at Oculu are pioneers at serving video online. Our online video hosting technology was created out of frustration and necessity to specifically address the needs of our video production company, Innovate Media. Customers hired us to create amazing videos for their websites. And we did, however they had great difficulty on their end getting the videos delivered properly on their websites. We solved their problem by having our software engineers create a simple yet robust platform to stream online video for them. This platform alleviated the headaches associated with properly serving video on the web and having their own customers enjoy it. Oculu has been enhanced and upgraded frequently since inception. The video streaming service started to grow as a division of Innovate Media. Oculu was spun off as a company of its own and since then things really caught on and Oculu has become the premier video technology solution serving videos for thousands of businesses globally.
For years customers asked us if we served pre-roll ads as part of our video service offering. We heard the requests but continued operating as mostly an enterprise hosting solution. Finally we gave in and added the ability to serve pre-roll to meet these customer demands. We now have as many publishers that use us to serve ads as we do enterprise customers. 2016 marked our expansion to the Silicon Valley in Northern California, a partnership with Parveen Panwar and the opening of an office in Los Altos. Parveen is an early pioneer of the video/content audience extension. He and his team of video experts integrated their expertise and knowledge of the video ad serving business with Oculu, in addition to a complimentary syndication tool to work with content producers. Since that time, ad serving and content distribution have become a critical component of the services we provide. Always evolving, our video player is now “360” compatible and sends and serves content to the next frontier of video devices.

An online video, new media and marketing expert, John Cecil has more than 20 years of media experience that provides him with an unique position to support and assist companies of various sizes and mixes to create measurable traction in the marketplace and grow to a high valuations. His early career put him right in the middle of emerging media/technologies with his involvement in cable television in the early ’90′s and his time in the beginning years of the Yahoo! Organization, which gave him extensive knowledge of the online advertising and promotion business.
Beginning in 2003, John became involved in actively incubating early-stage technology companies. These companies are primarily focused within the online video and video streaming space. Hundreds of production and video projects have been created and delivered for major clients under John’s leadership. He is also known in the media industry as a published and respected online video evangelist.
John was also the co-founder and president of Innovate Media where he was able to take advantage of his extensive online and offline media experience, and he did so to create and develop an online video production company. He positioned and pivoted Innovate Media after the subsequent acquisition of his company Gherkin Ruckus (which served as a premier online action sports marking services/digital agencies). Satisfied clients included: Nissan, Universal Pictures, Billabong USA and Ocean Pacific. After Innovate was fully established, John launched and spun off Oculu.com as a stand alone online video platform that has served millions of video plays for hundreds of customers and continues to be a technology leader in the online video delivery space.
Prior to Innovate Media, Cecil has held positions with such media companies as Lifetime Television, A&E Television, and Yahoo!. He began his career in the media business selling cable advertising locally for Comcast Cablevision in Southern California.

Through his company, PMI5 Media, he has spent nearly a decade working with major web content creators, publishers, brands & agencies developing video capabilities that would reach large and niche audiences.
In 2015, Parveen, a Shoppable angel investor, created Vidaptiv to open up new ways to use interactive content to create better and more engaging user experiences by transforming mobile web and in-app environments. Vidaptiv focuses on monetizing multi-platform interactive video experiences and deepening user engagement simultaneously.
He led the industry with the CPV pricing model, and his family tree of companies is AOR for some of the top digital publications in the United States, the Far East, Europe and APAC. In 2004 while video was an unfamiliar format in the digital space, Parveen launched video aggregator UVouch in Australia to pull clips from YouTube, Metacafe, Grouper, Blip.tv, Revver, Dailymotion and other video-based websites so that viewers could organize and share them.
